Let us cross the street. We
can see other characteristic
features of amedieval housing
estate. These are the so-called
diaphragm
arches ,
supporting strut arches,
which reduce the pressure of
brickwork in narrow streets.
Let us walk through a little
street K Haltýři and we
find ourselves in a place where
a mill drain used to be. It was
separating the Jewish Town from
the Christian Town. Fortna street,
on the right, leads to the square.
As a connecting street with the Jewish
Town it used to be closed by a gate at night
in the past. However, we will return through a little
street V Podloubí to Novosady street.
Originally, there was an impassable
square of a street type with its own
fountain . Two-floor houses
stood on both sides. Only a part
of them remains. Little shops and
workshops, facing the street, were
placed on the ground floor and
the first floor was used for living.
An administrative and religious
centre of the Jewish municipality
was in the eastern part of the street.
Ursprünglich gab es hier einen
nicht durchfahrbaren Platz des
Straßentyps mit einem eigenen
Brunnen . Auf beiden Seiten
standen zweistöckige Häuser, von
denen nur ein Teil geblieben ist.
Im Erdgeschoss in der Richtung
zur Straße wurden Krämer und
Werkstätte platziert, in dem ersten
Stock hat man dann gewohnt.
Im Ostteil der Straße hat sich
Verwaltungs- und Glaubenszentrum
der jüdischen Gemeinde befunden.
