Granite column with
a statue of Saint John
of Nepomuk
This granite column was erected by the Ugart family,
as the sandstone plaque informs us. The plaque,
resting on a four-cornered granite plinth, also bears
a representation of the family coat of arms. The column
appears in documents as early as 1706, mentioned by
a local chronicler in connection with floods that killed
11 people. It is approximately 11meters high and at its
top is a sandstone statue of Saint John of Nepomuk.
The column itself is enclosed by a stone balustrade.

mit der Überschwemmung in der Stadt, bei der 11

St.-Johann-Nepomuk geschmückt. Ganze Statue
ist von einer steinernen Balustrade umgeben.

This fountain was probably built as

a statue of Saint Florián, protector
against fire, by the sculptor Alexandr
Jelínek of Velké Meziříčí. The original
statue has since been replaced by
a metal one.
