Dom des Heiligen Nikolaus
Die ersten Erwähnungen der Kirche stammen aus dem Jahre 1317.
Die steinerne St. Antonín Statue unter dem Turm und Reliefs der vier
Evangelisten rings um Gottes Lamm stammen vom hiesigen akademischen
Bildhauer Jiří Marek. In der Kirche befindet sich das wertvollste Kulturdenkmal
der Stadt – Madona von Velké Mezíříčí.

Magnet für Touristen ist der 64
m hohe Kirchenturm mit dem
größten Zifferblatt in der
Tschechischen
Republik.

Uhrzeiger sind 1,7 und
2,2Meter lang. Der Turm
ist vom Juni bis Ende
August zugänglich.
Church of Saint Nicholas
This church is first mentioned in documents
dating from 1317. The stone statue of Saint
Anthony beneath the tower and reliefs of the
four Evangelists surrounding the Lamb of God
above the church entrance are the work of the
local academic sculptor Jiří Marek. In the church
we find the rarest of the town’s movable cultural
monuments, the Velké Meziříčí Madonna, made
from linden wood in the first third of the 14th
century. A popular attraction for tourists is the
church tower, which is 64 meters high. The clock
face’s diameter measures 4.2 meters, and the
hands are 2.2 and 1.7 meters long. It is the largest
illuminative clock face in the Czech Republic.
The tower is accessible from June until the end
of August.
